Running with the Girls!

Myself and 3 of my friends (Erin Wilkes, Janelle Romriell, and Waveney Taylor) participated in the Alltech Bluegrass relay race. It was at the Kentucky horse park outside of Lexington. It was a 20 mile race. Erin and myself did the 6.5 miles and Janelle and Waveney did 3.5 miles. It was beautiful at the park with the big trees, green fields and amazing horses. We ran mostly on the roads around the park but the last mile and a half was around the grass track. This was the brutal part. Running on the grass was hard on the ankles and knees, not to mention the blasted sun!! It was a scorcher! I was lucky enough to run the first leg of the relay when it was not so hot, but I was unlucky to be behind a dump truck and the first to experience the not so beautiful part of the horses... their poop smell!! It was a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone that will be here in Louisville next fall! We had a blast doing it. I think we ran it in 3 hours flat... Oh yea, the desperate housewives was our team name....
