Grandpa Dee time...

Jon's Dad was to gracious to take off work to help Jon drive our stuff up the Alcan. After 5 days of driving he was able to spend some time with us up in Alaska. The kids were thrilled to have papa Dee around 24-7 for a week and a half. We had a blast and did alot! Sorry about all of the pictures.... I had to put a 10 days into one posting! ENJOY!

We did almost nightly walks down our road to the park!

Mount Hood Lake... this is were a lot of the float planes land and take off! It is always fun to watch!

We took the famous hike down to the hand tram in Girdwood! Daddy daughter time!
Caiden had to do everything that papa did! Wear a hat... tie his sweatshirt around his waist... have a walking stick!
This is the hand tram! it is a small basket that is held up by a rope and wire and a rope that goes through the basket that you pull yourself across the gorge that has rushing water running down it. you are about 50 feet up from the water!

This is McCugh creek. a Fun picnic area with rushing water nearby. The sun was a little bright!

We made a stop in Whittier. You travel through a 7 mile tunnel to get to this small town. There is a small beach with the ocean and a river .... a fun spot for the kids. The boys having a skipping rock contest.

We went on the portage glacier hike. you start in Whittier and hike pretty much straight up the mountain till you get to the saddle and then you have an awesome view of portage glacier! It was early enough in the summer that most of the trail was still covered in snow!

The snow was hard to climb up but a blast to ski down! :) Look at the natural skier!

The kids had fun chasing all of the geese and their babies! There were a ton of them!
I think the best purchase this summer was their rain boots! they love playing in the water!
Jon and his dad made a couple fishing trips on their own! It wouldn't be alaska if you didn't go fishing!
Thanks Dee for all that you did to help us move up to AK! The kids had a blast spending time with you! Thank you stanna for helping them get off and letting us take you husband for a couple weeks! We miss you both!
